Vision 2020 Australia

February 5, 2019 By Sonja

Vision 2020 Australia is the national peak body working to prevent avoidable blindness and improve vision care in Australia and our region.

Vision 2020 Australia’s role is to ensure that eye health and vision care remains high on the health, disability and international development agendas of Australian governments.

The brief

We were engaged to design Vision 2020 Australia’s 2017 – 2018 annual report. The brief was to utilise the principles we have developed in sustainable design to produce both a printable and accessible Word version of the report. We created high contrast and bold elements to make the report easy to read and ensured the report was minimal, clean and well-suited to the audience.

How is this ethical?

Vision 2020 Australia’s role is to ensure that eye health and vision care remains high on the health, disability and international development agendas at all levels of Australian governments. Their aim is the elimination of preventable blindness and vision loss as well as the full participation of people who are blind or have low vision in the community.

Our sustainability strategy

In an effort to design Vision 2020 Australia’s annual report in the most sustainable manner possible we:

  • Used minimal ink coverage: we chose to design the report with a white background and dark text (this is also easier for vision impaired people to read)
  • Designed half-page image spreads instead of more commonly used full page images
  • Minimised page bleeds: we only used bleeds on front and back covers + one inside page
  • Created an accessible version of the report for vision impaired people
