Gender Equity Victoria

Mock up of GEN VIC's 2021-2025 Strategic Plan report cover in greyscale

August 24, 2022 By Caitlin Jordan

Gender Equity Victoria (GEN VIC) is the independent peak body for organisations, practitioners and individuals promoting gender equity in Victoria.

GEN VIC’s vision is for a gender equal society where all people are free from the harm of gender inequity. They recognise that gender inequity harms everyone – men, women, children, non-binary and gender diverse people – but special measures are required particularly to address the problem for all people who identify as women in our community.

GEN VIC champions, coordinates, educates and advises on strategies to end the harm of gender inequality, to help promote women’s health and prevent violence against women.

The brief:

EDCo. was hired in the final months of 2021 to design GEN VIC’s 2021-2025 Strategic Plan in digital PDF format.

The brief was to work within GEN VIC’s established brand identity; utilising their brand colours and fonts to develop a report that had a consistent look and feel to their website and other previously produced collateral. We also wanted to apply the same signature image treatment to the images used in the report (that is, black and white images with an orange overlay) because we felt this was a unique and recognisable aspect of GEN VIC’s branding.

We were also tasked with creating some new assets including infographics, custom icons and some additions to the existing stock image library for use in the report and other materials.

How is this ethical?

Gender Equity Victoria partners with organisations in government, the public and private sector, and grassroots community organisations to accelerate gender equity change. GEN VIC supports its members to deliver gender equity transformation at a local, state, national and international level.

GEN VIC’s four key Focus Areas provides insight into what makes them an ethical organisation:

  1. Champion economic justice and equity (e.g. working to close the gender pay gap);
  2. Support gender equitable health and wellbeing;
  3. Strengthen the gender equity movement; and
  4. Innovate communities of safety and respect.

As a women-led business operating in Victoria, this was a great opportunity for us to partner with a likeminded organisation in the non-profit sector working directly with (and for) vulnerable women in our community.
