Yarraville Community Centre

May 6, 2017 By sonja

Yarraville Community Centre (YCC) is a vibrant community hub that provides education, training, and support to more than 2,000 people each week.

As an adult education provider in western metropolitan Melbourne, YCC offer a wide range of courses as well as other community-managed support services.

Sustainable printing

The brief

YCC  have hired us on an ongoing basis to help with the digital design and sustainable printing of their quarterly short courses brochures. Our brief was to utilise their colourful brand colours as much as possible to make the brochures stand out. We’ve also worked with YCC on some workshop templates to make it easy and efficient for them to create designs in-house.

How is this ethical?

Caring for the community and environment is a key focus for YCC. They have implemented a range of sustainability initiatives and reduced their impact on the planet.

YCC strive to make everyone feel supported and welcome in their community; they offer an excellent range of skills-based courses and services targeted at refugees, migrants and people with disabilities.

Our sustainability strategy

We helped YCC dramatically minimise the size of their quarterly course brochures in order to save costs and print resources (and precious forests!).

We also provided YCC with recommendations around sustainable printing. They have since switched to printing their brochures on FSC certified EcoStar 100% recycled paper.
